Heledd Fychan sent a message of support to Wales’ women’s football team as they head to Switzerland for their first major international tournament.
from 2 July to 27 July, the team will compete in the UEFA Women’s Euro tournament, facing 16 teams across eight different venues in Switzerland. The tournament marks a historic milestone as Wales’ women take to the international stage for the first time.
Heledd Fychan MS Calls for Urgent Support for the Residents of Clydach Terrace in Ynysybwl
Today, Natural Resources Wales (NRW) has published their long-awaited Outline Business Case for Clydach Terrace which looked at options to reduce the risk of flooding for the street. This follows the devastating flooding residents experienced in February 2020 as a result of Storm Dennis, which saw some having to swim to safety to survive.

During questions to the Cabinet Secretary for Finance yesterday (Wednesday 5th June 2025), Heledd Fychan MS uncovered that local authorities and other public sector organisations in Wales will have to absorb the remaining shortfall in the compensation for increases to employers’ National Insurance Contributions.
Wales short changed by £70m due to Labour’s National Insurance plans
Plaid Cymru spokesperson for Finance, Heledd Fychan MS has hit out at the Welsh and UK Labour Governments for allowing Wales to be short-changed to the tune of £70 million as a result of the increase in National Insurance Contributions.
Heledd Fychan accused the Labour Welsh Government of being “bystanders to unfairness” with Cabinet Secretary for Finance Mark Drakeford resorting to raiding the Welsh reserves rather than demanding that UK Labour funds Wales fairly.
PLAID CYMRU PLEDGE TO ENSURE EISTEDDFOD CAN BE ENJOYED BY ALL
Plaid Cymru have today (Friday 30 May 2025) pledged to ensure that free access to low-income families continues to Urdd Gobaith Cymru’s annual cultural festival, Eisteddfod yr Urdd.
This year’s Eisteddfod yr Urdd has seen a record-breaking 119,593 registrations and a 42% rise in the number of competitors that are Welsh learners.

Plaid Cymru calls on the Labour Welsh Government to act on historical pension injustices and support victims of these scandals.
In a motion to be debated in the Senedd on Wednesday (21 May 2025), Plaid Cymru has called on the Labour Welsh Government to ‘make the case for action’ on historical pension injustices. Labour’s response was to ‘delete’ the calls.
The Plaid Cymru motion notes the significant and long-standing pension injustices, and the inaction of successive UK Governments to rights these wrongs. The motion also calls on the Welsh Government to make representations to the UK Government on these issues.
Senedd Debate Highlights Escalating Hunger and Hardship in Wales
On 14 May 2025, a debate in the Senedd was brought forward by Heledd Fychan, Plaid Cymru Member of the Senedd for South Wales Central, focused on the deepening crisis of hunger and financial hardship throughout Wales.
