Plaid Cymru Stands in Solidarity with the Trans Community

The Supreme Court’s recent ruling has caused distress within the transgender community. Plaid Cymru emphasises that this decision must not be seen as a victory for one group over another. We remain steadfast in our commitment to protecting the rights of all, supporting both women's and trans people's rights, and upholding the principle of self-identification.

This legal opinion does not diminish the rights of trans people against discrimination, and Plaid Cymru will continue to advocate for the devolution of equality powers to ensure these rights are safeguarded. Fighting for women's rights means fighting for all women, including transgender women, and creating a society free from discrimination and violence. Together, we must unite against prejudice and hatred to achieve true equality for all.
