Independent Inquiry: The expansion of Craig y Hesg Quarry
Over the past few years, I have supported local residents in campaigning against the expansion of Craig Yr Hesg Quarry. Applications for expansion have been rejected twice by Rhondda Cynon Taf’s Council Planning Committee and now Planning and Environment Decisions Wales’ public inquiry into the extension is set to begin on Tuesday 21st of June 2022.

In November 2021, many constituents contacted my office about what they would like to see happen to the old Bingo Hall site and the Old Marks & Spencers and Dorothy Perkins sites in Pontypridd Town Centre. 75 participated in a subsequent consultation I ran, by completing a survey online as well as contacting the office directly. More Support Needed for Flood Victims
This morning (5 October 2021), Heledd Fychan MS for South Wales Central visited some of the communities affected overnight by flooding.
Having received tens of messages by people flooded, or worried that they would flood, Heledd was out knocking doors in Pontypridd, Cilfynydd and Rhydyfelin to witness the damage with her own eyes and to discuss with residents and businesses any support they require.
