Church Village Traffic Concerns

Last week, I was asked by a resident to visit Church Village to witness issues around traffic, speeding and parking.

Other residents have also been in touch to raise concerns, and want to see improvements put in place to make the village safer for pedestrians.

Specific concerns are:

  • Speeding on the B4595 on the Main Road, especially leading up to Ysgol Gyfun Garth Olwg. There are no traffic calming measures in place, and as I witnessed, there is considerable speeding. Also on the same road, queuing traffic to the school is an issue and parents parking on the double yellows to collect children from school.

  • Speeding on St Illtyd’s Road, especially with cars coming out of Cae Fardre. The speed cameras are not effective at preventing this and residents state that they are fearful that a child will be injured if more isn’t done to slow the traffic.

I have today written to the leader of RCT Council to ask for an update regarding any planned work in Church Village to tackle the concerns raised. If there are no plans, I have also asked for meeting with relevant officers to discuss the concerns of residents and take forward options to improve safety.
