If you struggling but don’t have arrears yet
Spread the cost of your bill
You can pay by instalments weekly, monthly, or 6 monthly, rather than paying in full when you receive your bill.
Save money with a water meter
If you live alone, not use much water, or are just looking to reduce your bill then you might save money by having a water meter installed, that way you'll only pay for the water you use.
Request a short term payment break
If your problem is just a short term one, and you need a little help, Welsh Water can temporarily reduce or postpose payments. You can apply for short term help online and they will review your circumstances and call you back with options which are suitable for you. You can do this using the online form.
If you already owe money, have been contacted by a Debt Collection Agency or received arrears letters…
If you are in arrears on your account there is still help available.
Call Welsh Water and explain your situation. They will call you back and try to agree a way forward with you. Or you can do this using an online form.
If you have been contacted by a Debt Collection Agency
If you have received a letter from them, the best thing to do is to respond to them by the contact methods in the letter. Their friendly advisors will be on hand to work with you in a non-judgmental way to get you back on track
Customer Assistance Fund Debt Support scheme
The Customer Assistance Fund Debt Support scheme is designed to help those in severe financial hardship to clear and get on top of their payments.
How does it work?
If you're successful in your application, Welsh Water will set up a monthly, fortnightly or weekly payment plan for your current year's charges.
Once you have made payments for 6 months, they will pay off 50% of your previous arrears.
If you make payments for a further 6 months, they will then pay off the rest of your previous arrears.
If you keep up with payments, over the year you would have paid your bill and we would have cleared your debt.
You may be eligible if:
Your water account is for a domestic property where you currently live.
You owe more than £150.
