Heledd Fychan MS listens to the community’s concerns in recent public meeting.

Heledd Fychan, Member of the Senedd for South Wales Central, held her most recent community meeting in Porth this week (22nd of April). The residents of Porth raised many issues and concerns about local matters, public transport, and health and care services. Issues ranged from the condition of the local pavement and dog fouling to concerns about the new Porth interchange and the lack of public toilets.

Plaid Cymru hits out at Labour Cardiff Council Leader who blames staff and St Fagans for museum woes

Plaid Cymru spokesperson for Culture, Heledd Fychan MS, has hit out at the Labour Leader of Cardiff Council, Huw Thomas, who last night made “insulting and unfounded” remarks blaming staff and St. Fagans for the National Museum’s woes.

Speaking on S4C’s Y Byd Yn Ei Le programme on Thursday night, Huw Thomas pointed out that more than £30 million had been spent on the St. Fagans project around five years ago, adding that senior managers at the Museum would have been aware of ‘issues’ at the time.

STARMER’S HYPOCRISY EXPOSED AS LABOUR ‘DON’T GET CULTURE’ IN WALES

25 years of Labour rule in Wales has resulted in the culture sector being cut to the bone, says Heledd Fychan MS

 

Plaid Cymru has warned that unless the Welsh Government take urgent action to get to grips with the crisis facing the culture sector, Wales is at risk of losing its national memory.

Heledd Fychan' comments come after the First Minister today (15 April 2024) defended cuts to the culture budget following an announcement that Wales’ National Museum in Cardiff is at risk of closure, as well as 90 job losses.

I recently had the chance to visit the Colcot Sports Centre & Buttrills fields and met with Michael a local resident who is campaigning against the Vale of Glamorgan Council's plans to demolish and replace these community facilities with housing.

UK Government continues to be unwilling to clear South Wales Coal tips

Yesterday, during Mark Drakeford’s last question session as First Minister, I had the opportunity to ask him about the safety of our Coal Tips.

It’s disgraceful that the UK Government continues to be unwilling to work with the Welsh Government on this important matter. I hope the next UK Government will right the wrongs of the past, and ensure no community continues to live in fear of the coal tips.

The Labour Government in Wales has scrapped support for free meals for children during school holidays ‘indefinitely’

Plaid Cymru has reacted to the announcement by the Education Minister and First Minister Candidate, Jeremy Miles, that support for food for the youngest and most vulnerable children in Wales had been scrapped ‘indefinitely’.
