I'm pleased to hear that Ferndale House will remain open until a new care home is built. This is a fantastic outcome for our residents, dedicated staff, and the families who have fought so hard to keep this much-needed care in the community.
Labour Government not listening to Wales’ cultural institutions
Plaid Cymru press for greater accountability in upholding the democratic mandate to support cultural institutions.
Plaid Cymru’s spokesperson for culture has written to the Labour Welsh Government Minister for Culture, Skills and Social Partnership demanding that the Labour Welsh Government “acknowledges its responsibility” in ensuring cultural institutions are “nurtured and maintained in line with the democratic will of the Senedd.”
These calls come after the closure of the state-funded National Theatre of Wales in December 2024, and a new Welsh National Theatre being established by Michael Sheen - a private individual.

Heledd Fychan MS for South Wales Central is all ‘knitted up’ in support of Save the Children’s annual Christmas Jumper Day held this year on Thursday 12th December.
Since launching in 2012, Christmas Jumper Day has raised over £37 million to help transform the lives of children around the world. The money raised supports children in Wales, the UK and around the world to stay safe, healthy and learning.

Heledd Fychan MS Calls for Urgent Action to Support Flooded Communities in South Wales Central
Today (27th November 2024), Plaid Cymru Member of the Senedd for South Wales Central, Heledd Fychan, has written to the Deputy First Minister of the Welsh Government requesting greater support for communitites impacted by flooding. With many communities once again dealing with flooding, this time as a result of Storm Bert, her letter outlines why action must now be taken including implementing the lessons that should have been learnt following the devastating impact of Storm Dennis on the same communities in 2020.

Today I responded to Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council’s consultation to shut Trallwng Infant School. I am opposed to this proposal and my reasons are outlined in my letter which can be seen here.

Use consequential cash to restore business rate relief, Plaid urge Labour Governmen
Some of the consequential funding coming to Wales from the UK Government budget should be used to restore business rate relief, Plaid Cymru has said.
Plaid Cymru Finance spokesperson, Heledd Fychan called for the Labour Government in Wales to restore business rate relief to 75%, the level at which they stood before the Welsh Government cut them to 40% in April 2024.
