Last week, I had the pleasure of meeting with Kyle and Jodie and the team of volunteers at Gofal Galar Cymru/Grief Support Cymru. The dedicated team were all busy supporting their clients, and it was great to see them at work.
Kyle and Jodie started the group following the tragic death of their own baby boy, Dylan.
Having been established in 2020, they have already worked with 268 clients. The feedback has been universally heart-warming, with many saying how important the contact with GSC has been for them in their journey with grief. As well as being busy working with clients, they are also trying to establish themselves as a registered charity and are putting together funding bids to help with all the administration costs that they incur, so that the group can take on more clients.
They also provide drop-in sessions twice a week, and also run a social club - The Owl Club - every other Tuesday. Its somewhere where people can come and share company with other people who have found themselves alone or lonely. For more information call them on 01443 440510 Ext 2 for more information.
You can support the fundraising activities by joining their Facebook page - @griefsupportcymru or search for Good Grief Raffles on Facebook.
Upcoming fundraising event
Grief Support Cymru are organising a sponsored walk from Clydach to Pontypridd on the 13th of November.
Why not join them and Dylan Bear and raise money so that they can help more people?
They are looking for new volunteers to sign up, and they provide full training for people who would like to join the team.
