Plaid Cymru Debate on Gaza

In November 2023, the Welsh Parliament endorsed a Plaid Cymru motion passed which called for ceasefire and the immediate release of hostages in Gaza and Israel, making it one of the first parliaments in the world to do so. My Plaid Cymru colleagues and I in the Senedd have called on the Welsh and UK Governments to condemn President Trump’s proposal to forcibly displace Gaza's population, which we view as ethnic cleansing.

 

Plaid Cymru's most recent motion urged the UK Government to suspend arms exports to Israel and called for a review of public sector procurement by Welsh ministers.Despite the undeniable devastation in Gaza, Senedd members voted 39-11 against the motion.
