Ynysybwl Regeneration Project

Today (4th November 2021), I had the pleasure of visiting the Ynysybwl Regeneration Project.

It was fantastic to hear from both staff and volunteers about all the different initiatives, and the positive impact the project is having on people of all ages.

During the visit, I was taken on a tour accompanied by some of the YRP team and chatted with many of the inspirational community leaders there from various groups.  We met at the office in Windsor Place then I was taken on a tour to the Lady Windsor trail, part of the Cribbin Ddu walk developed by the paths and trails vision group.

We then arrived at Butcher's Pool which is a paddling area that is cherished by local families. This was taken over by, 'Friends of Butchers Pool' who, with grit and determination took complete ownership in ensuring that the pool is open each summer for everyone.

Finally we stopped off at their newest venture, Caban Guto where I was lucky enough to grab some of their delicious food.

I was beyond impressed with what they have achieved as a community particularly through their community asset-based approach to life.
