Cost of living - Summit report
On 17 February 2022, Heldd Fychan Plaid Cymru Senedd Member for South Wales Central invited local organisations that offer support to people facing crisis to come together to discuss how we can work together to ensure that everyone receives the help available to them.
In attendance were representatives from Citizens Advice, Taff Ely and Pontypridd Foodbank, Age Connects Morgannwg, People’s Assembly Wales, Little Lounge, child Poverty action, Carmel Community Clothing, YRP and Cardiff Council.
Plaid Cymru Secures Investment in Flood Protection Measures
Through to the Co-Operation agreement between Plaid Cymru and Welsh Government, a total of £214m is being invested in flood protection for communities across Wales.
Funding will be spent over a period of three years, with over £16.2m allocated to specifically address flooding in RCT, Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.

Cost of Living Crisis
As we all know, energy, fuel and food prices are rising dramatically. Along with the cut to universal credit and the financial hardship many are suffering as a result of the pandemic, people across Wales are facing a cost-of-living crisis. Unfortunately, this will only get worse as prices continue to rise.
On the 17th of February, I held a summit in Treforest on this issue bringing together organisations that offer support to people facing crisis, such as Citizens Advice and local food banks. We discussed how we could work together to ensure that everyone receives the help available to them, and that we work together to make more support available.

Save Cowbridge’s Old Girls School
Yesterday in the Senedd (16 February), Heledd Fychan MS spoke to support a petition calling for the Deputy Minister for Arts and Sport to ask Cadw officials to reconsider their view that the Old Girls School in Cowbridge shouldn’t be listed.
Heledd Fychan MS calls for establishment of Welsh Flood Forum on 2 Year Anniversary of Storm Dennis
This week marks two years since communities across Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT) and beyond were devastated by extensive flooding as a result of Storm Dennis. Approximately 1498 homes and businesses in RCT alone were hit, and vital infrastructure destroyed.
Two years on, communities are still left waiting for answers with no assurances that they will be safe in the future if a similar storm hits again.

Heledd Fychan MS: the Welsh Government must do more to support victims of stalking in Wales
Today Heledd Fychan MS opened a Plaid Cymru debate on Stalking calling on the Welsh Government to do more to tackle this problem and ensure greater support for victims.
Stalking is a pattern of unwanted, persistent, obsessive and intrusive behaviours by one person towards another person, causing fear of violence and distress to the person being targeted.
