Plaid Cymru’s campaign to bring powers over broadcasting home to Wales is a step closer after a new expert panel to pave the way for the devolution of communications and broadcasting powers to Wales has today been announced.

The expert panel, which is being established as part of the Co-operation Agreement between the Welsh Government and Plaid Cymru, will provide recommendations and options to help strengthen Wales’ media, and support the development of plans for an effective and fit for purpose regulatory framework for Wales.

Yesterday, I visited the Urdd Eisteddfod in Denbigh with my family. It was fantastic to be back on the maes for the first time since 2019 as both the 2020 and 2021 eisteddfodau unfortunately had to be cancelled due to Covid.

Over the past few years, I have supported local residents in campaigning against the expansion of Craig Yr Hesg Quarry. Applications for expansion have been rejected twice by Rhondda Cynon Taf’s Council Planning Committee and now Planning and Environment Decisions Wales’ public inquiry into the extension is set to begin on Tuesday 21st of June 2022.

Earlier this week, I visited the Scottish Parliament as I represent the Senedd on the British Irish Parliamentary Assembly.

I sit on the Environmental and Social sub-committee and we are currently undertaking an inquiry into provision for indigenous minority languages. Evidence was taken in Wales in 2019, and this was our opportunity to here about the situation in Scotland in relation to all indigenous languages. Amongst those giving evidence was Shirley-Anne Somerville MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills, Scottish Government.

Last week, I visited north Wales with the Culture, Communications, Welsh Language, Sport and International Relations Committee.

We went to a variety of places, many of which I was familiar with from my previous job with Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales such as Ty Pawb, Theatr Clwyd and of course the National Slate Museum.

In recent years, communities across the region have suffered flooding and continue to be at risk. I’ve developed this booklet with some practical information, in case the worse were to happen again.  

I very much hope that you will never have to use this guide. But if your home is at risk, this guide sets out steps you can take before, during and following a flood.  

While it may not be possible to prepare for every eventuality, taking the steps laid out in this guide will hopefully make it easier to plan and react to a flood if the worse were to happen. 

I recently held a public meeting with residents in Church Village who were concerned with speeding in their area.

I am aware this is not an issue unique to this area with many concerned constituents contacting my office about similar issues.

In February, we were able team up with Citizen’s advice to hold our first joint surgery. February focused on Energy advice, but each month will have a new theme.

Welsh Government’s rejection of Welsh inquiry ‘handed all control to Boris Johnson’

Plaid Cymru yesterday (26 April 2022) wrote to the First Minister to ask for the record to be corrected on his statement regarding the UK Government’s ability to lead the inquiry into COVID-19 in Wales.

In November 2021, many constituents contacted my office about what they would like to see happen to the old Bingo Hall site and the Old Marks & Spencers and Dorothy Perkins sites in Pontypridd Town Centre. 75 participated in a subsequent consultation I ran, by completing a survey online as well as contacting the office directly. Here are the results from the responses collected from residents who live, work and visit Pontypridd.
