Welcoming back our Welsh Olympic Heroes
I was honoured to welcome back our wonderful Wales team at the Senedd this week following their amazing achievements at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic games.
A470 tolls wrong solution to an urgent problem
Plaid accuse Labour of “headline grabbing sticking plaster solution” over A470 toll idea
The Welsh Government over the summer have been consulting on proposals to charge drivers to use the A470 between Upper Boat and Pontypridd, as part of plans to reduce pollution via a Clean Air Zone. Most residents were made aware by letters being shared on social media by some residents who had received notification, whilst others who would be impacted have received no information and were therefore unable to respond to the consultation.
Meet the Team
With the start of the new Senedd term fast approaching, I’d like to introduce you to my team.
Bus Complaint Form Now Live
Because so many of you have been in contact over the past few months about problems with your local bus service, I’ve now created a dedicated section on my website where you can leave your comments anytime.
Trehafod Community Garden
Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting Trehafod Community Garden. Volunteers have recently taken over the running of a local park/ communal area, and it recently opened on the 31 July.
Thank You: My First 100 days
Today marks 100 days since I was elected to be your Member of the Senedd for South Wales Central.
Looking back at the past few months, it is impossible to put into words how truly honoured I am to represent you.
National Allotment Week
Its National Allotment week – and the theme this year is ‘Plotting for the Future’
A theme which celebrates sustainability.
I was honoured to visit Pritchard Street Allotment in Tonyrefail and hear from Caryl and Rhys, residents who have been growing on the allotment for 18 years.
“We need to save lives now and agree to a Peoples Vaccine!”
Right now in Wales, it may feel that the end of the pandemic is in sight, but in some places in the world the pandemic is becoming even more deadly.
Whilst we were enjoying watching the euros in June, in Uganda, their national football stadium was being used as a field hospital to treat COVID patients.
The cases in the country also increased significantly, by 1,000 per cent in June, with only 4,000 people out of a population of 45 million having received two doses of the vaccine. This deadly lack of vaccines is a story that is being repeated across the world, namely in low-income countries.
Sub-standard bus services impacting our communities
I recently ran a survey about local bus services, after receiving a number of complaints from residents living in the wider Pontypridd area. Having previously raised these concerns in the Senedd, I wanted to find out more about how residents feel about the service and the impact poor services or a lack of service has been having on them.
74% of those that responded states that the service was both unreliable and not value for money, and shared the impact this is having on their lives.
The summer re-opening of paddling pools in RCT
After what has been a difficult time for all of us, it was lovely to be able to visit the paddling pools and their volunteers in Penygraig and Treorchy yesterday.
It was great to see everyone enjoying the pools and to see and hear about how popular they are proving to be with people of all ages.
